Demystifying the Legal Process of Buying a House - A Step by Step Guide to Buying a House

We have so many people who ask the same question:  "why does it take so long to buy a house?"  

So we decided to write a booklet to explain it all, to strip back the mystery behind the buying process. Us solicitors always have your back, we don't deliberately delay you moving in or selling. You see, we know that buying (and selling) a house is one of the most stressful but exciting times in a person's life. Here at Tallans, we never get bored of talking to purchasers who are buying their first home, their dream home or their retirement home. 

In this booklet, we explain the process but in a nutshell, to answer that question, you're dealing with people – whether it is in the bank, another solicitors' office (who deals with the seller), the land registry, estate agents and you the buyer. Delays occur because we don't have control over other people's time.

The main benefit of this time lapse is that you are well looked after. Buying a house is a huge purchase. It's not like buying a dress or suit – and even then you have the Sale of Goods Act to support you if things go wrong.
